(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.)  KQ2 confirmed Monday afternoon that the St. Joseph Police Department is now investigating the St. Joseph School District.

The department's Electronic Crimes Unit has in its possession a school district computer.

Police say district officials hand delivered the computer to police headquarters last Tuesday.

School administration would not confirm the user of that computer or even that they turned over a hard drive to police.

This discovery comes days after an announcement of a federal grand jury subpoena for financial information and other documents from the district.

The State Auditor's Office is now in its third week of having staff on-site in St. Joseph completing an audit of the school district.

Outside investigators began taking an interest in the district after in was revealed that Superintendent Dr. Fred Czerwonka had awarded  more than $250,000 worth of stipends to chief administrators and other school leadership without board approval.
