(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The St. Joseph School District will start the school year with dozens of new teachers.

The Missouri State Teacher's Association (MSTA) welcomed nearly 100 new teachers during a meet-and-greet breakfast Monday morning at the Pony Express Museum.

The event gives teachers a chance to learn about the district and their classrooms. They also meet their principals and other teachers to help them prepare for their new role.

"The overall goal is to help our new teachers feel a little more comfortable with starting a new career with new kids and new staff and new community for some people," said Brian Shindorf, director of elementary education. "So, it really is an opportunity to start acclimating and really feel a little more comfortable with really 'what is this whole thing about teaching really going to look like for me?'"

Teachers will also learn more about technology and classroom management this week.
