(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Wednesday marked a special night for the MLS.

The league held its annual all-star game in Portland, Oregon.

Four players from Sporting KC represented their club in the event, while one of their teammates spent his day off showing his talent in the kitchen.

Sporting forward C.J. Sapong was at the North Belt Subway Wednesday afternoon working as a "sandwich artist" and signing some autographs.

"I've got a little skill," Sapong said of his sandwich-making capability. "When I put the mayonnaise on there you gotta hit the top of it real good. That's how you get an even flow."

This is Sapong's fourth year playing for Sporting KC, and Wednesday was his first trip to St. Joseph. The support of the club in St. Joe opened the eyes of the Manassas, Virginia native.

"The Sporting KC name and brand reaches -- I've never been out here, and it's good to see people that are still very excited about it. It's been great to see the growth of our team, obviously the fans as well. It's a beautiful thing, and I'm just glad that I'm a part of it."

Kansas City's team is currently tops in the Eastern Conference with 39 points and a 11-5 record.

Sapong and Sporting return to action in Vancouver Sunday, and will be back home August 16.
