(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A woman with roots in northwest Missouri has been selected as the next leader for the St. Joseph Museums.

After a nationwide search, Sara Wilson landed the role of Executive Director.

Wilson is a graduate of North Andrew High School. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Northwest Missouri State University and a Masters in Anthropology and Museum Management from Arizona State University.

Wilson began her career with the St. Joseph Museums a year ago. She led the way in revamping the Glore Psychiatric Museum and worked part-time as an interpretive planner.

"We are so fortunate for Sara coming into our midst.  In her first year, she researched the history of psychiatric care and the State Hospital System and has done a brilliant job of reorganizing all four floors of the Glore exhibits, introducing a new style which I hope we can implement throughout the entire Museum," commented David Lewis, Board President.  "Her enthusiasm for Museum work is contagious, and I think she will reach out to the other area museums as well as draw new supporters and volunteers."

Wilson replaces Jackie Lewin. Lewin announced her retirement in January after 8 years as executive director.
