The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) gave the district 13 out of 14 possible points.
The grading scale is based on performance in 14 areas including MAP testing, graduation rates and attendance.
The scores also mean the district is making progress in student performance over a five-year span.
"For us, it is confirmation that we did not just make progress in one year. We have been making progress over several years," said Assistant Director of Elementary Education Brian Shindorf.
There are 521 school districts in the state. Of those, 329 earned a distinction in performance.
