(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) After a nearly 5-hour standoff and a brief pursuit, St. Joseph police have a suspect in custody.

Police were called to a residence at 1021 Ridenbaugh around 7:30 p.m. Saturday for a disturbance call. The suspect retreated inside the home, refusing to come out.

The Special Response Team was called in after police believed the suspect was armed.

Around 11:30 p.m., the SRT breached the home after attempts to talk the suspect out were not successful.

Shortly after the breach, the suspect managed to flee on foot.

After midnight police confirmed they had arrested a suspect, believed to be the man involved in the standoff. Police say he broke into a home at 1122 Powell, where police found him.

The suspect's identity and possible charges were not immediately available.
