(GOWER, Mo.) FCCLA kicked off the "It Can Wait" campaign, at East Buchanan High School, with a documentary on the dangers of texting while driving.

The campaign included a banner for students to sign, and pledge not to text and drive.

There will also be a week-long twitter contest to encourage other high school students to take the pledge.

The contest is based on students with the best tweets, who gets the most retweets, and favorites.

FCCLA says this is important because people do not realize how dangerous texting and driving can be.

"Your life can change in the blink of an eye from hitting somebody or getting in a back wreck yourself from texting and driving. It's just crazy to even think about," said Shania McNeely.

Mayor Bill Falkner declared September 19 "It Can Wait, No Texting While Driving" Day.

It you want to take the pledge, text ICWMO to 464239.
