The survey, conducted by LAN Resources of St. Joseph, shows not only do people want public places and workplaces to be smoke-free, but also they know the dangers of secondhand smoke.
69% of those surveyed said there should not be smoking where people worked.
82.6% of those agreed that breathing someone else's cigarette smoke is harmful to your health, and over half surveyed said they would eat at restaurants in St. Joseph more often if they were smoke-free.
About 600 households were randomly selected for the survey.
