The St. Joseph Habitat For Humanity ReStore is celebrating its 3 year anniversary with an annual garage sale. The ReStore sells new and used building materials and accepts donations of unwanted household items. "The ReStore is a great place because everything that's donated to the ReStore goes back to help build more houses for St. Joe.", said ReStore Manager Christy George.
Whether buying or donating, the Habitat For Humanity can continue to touch lives by helping low income families own homes. "Everything in our store is 100 percent donated. When they come in and buy something, that money helps us directly and providing for those who are interested in improving their living conditions through affordable housing.", said Habitat For Humanity Executive Director Melissa Koch.
To add to the celebration, St. Joseph realtors and their affiliates wanted to lend a helping hand. "Every year the diversity committee tries to do some kind of a project that benefits the community. So this year we decided that we would cooperate with Habitat For Humanity on their yearly garage sale.", said Diversity Committee Chairman Charlotte Sollars.
By donating items to the garage sale, all the proceeds will go toward Habitat For Humanity. "It gets the realtors involved in helping the community and it goes to Habitat which is an excellent organization that helps the community.", said Sollars.
Even from the start of the celebration, the community showed their support. "We've had a great response. We've got all this stuff out here and we've already done a lot of sales so i think Habitat will come out with quite a bit of money from our items.", said Sollars.
The ReStore is located at the corner of 9th and Olive street. Sale specials will be running all week.
