(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) TIF Commission members held off on approving an amendment with the East Hills Mall tax increment financing plan.

East Hills developers requested a change in boundaries for their TIF district to include all of the land currently occupied by Golden Corral restaurant.

Currently the TIF boundary covers only part of Golden Corral's property and it's making it difficult for Buchanan County staff to assess the correct taxes.

One commission member suggested it might be as technical as where the cash register is located within the restaurant as to whether the TIF and an associated extra sales tax were appropriate.

Nobody with the mall was at the meeting, so the TIF Commission held off on making a decision.

They set another meeting to hear from East Hills for October 9.
