(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Customer service workers in St. Joseph got a tour of their town today, all in an effort to help them learn more about the city where they work.

The St. Joseph Convention and Visitor's Bureau hosted the Show Me St Jo Workshop, which gives local business employees a chance to see what St. Joseph has to offer.

The workers briefly toured different museums around town and the Remington Nature Center.

The Visitor Bureau's Lindsay Bernard said the event gives these workers ideas to give to tourists.

"Whenever visitors come into town these front desk clerks that check them in at the hotel or the gas station assistant or the restaurant waitress is mainly the people these people see the majority of the time they are in town so we want them greeting them with a smile, welcoming them," she said.

The tour was part of National Tourism Week.

The St. Joseph Convention and Visitor's Bureau will also hold a sales blitz as part of the festivities.
