(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) St. Joseph students are raising awareness for mental health by taking a walk to school.

Students at Truman and Bode Middle Schools spent the end of their school day by walking to Central High School.

All week, they have been raising money for a the Focus Empowerment Group.

Some of the money came from t-shirt sales that show a green ribbon with the phrase "1N4."

The message signifies the amount of children who are diagnosed with a mental illness.

"Just raising awareness about children's mental health and what needs the children in our community really have," said Sarah Dudeck, a counselor at Truman Middle School.

Students were able to raise more than $400 for the organization.
