(PLATTE CITY, Mo.) Two teens are in police custody after authorities say they were served with search warrants in reference to the burglary and damage at Platte County R-III High School.

Both teens, 16, are students at the high school.

Platte City police say they recovered several stolen items from their homes and in a wooded field in Platte City.

School leaders say protecting their students is their number one goal.

"I don't think anybody would look at this favorably," said Platte County R-III Superintendent Michael Reik. "What I will say is our students are very agile and are positive thinkers in general and what I found is our students overcome things like this."

The juveniles are being held pending the filing of criminal charges in the Platte County Juvenile Court.
