(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) A voter ID measure clears a hurdle in Jefferson City.

The Missouri House gave its initial approval to a measure that would require voters to present a valid form of photo ID when they go to the polls.

The proposal must undergo a second vote to clear the House and advance to the Senate.

A voter ID amendment was vetoed by Gov. Nixon last year.
