Wathena Man Charged in St. Joseph Shooting

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A Wathena man faces a felony charge after police say he fired a gun at another man in south St. Joseph earlier this week.

Tyler Ripple, 21, is charged with class-d felony unlawful use of a weapon. According to court documents, Ripple confronted another man near 1200 Garfield Monday afternoon.

Police allege Ripple asked the man if he, "wanted to die today." Ripple and another man allegedly walked toward the victim before Ripple pulled a .22 caliber pistol from his waist band and fired two shots.

The victim allegedly ran from the two men, who eventually stopped chasing him.

Ripple remains in custody. His bond was set at $25,000. Ripple is scheduled to appear in court on January 24.
