Women of Excellence Honored in St. Joseph

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.)  Women from the St. Joseph community were honored Thursday at the YWCA's Women of Excellence luncheon.

Women were recognized for their volunteerism and excellence in both the workplace and the community.
Some of the women honored included Mitzi Teliczan for her leadership in the workplace. She says its nice to have an event honoring influential women.

"I think it's really a very special time to stop and give somebody credit or say hey, good job. I think everybody really loves to hear that even if it's just on occasion and I think today was the perfect occasion to do that. I feel inspired," stated Teliczan.

This year's award recipients included:

Bette Williams: Lifetime Achievement in Volunteerism
Mary Cornett: Lifetime Achievement in the Workplace
Mitzi Teliczan: Woman in the Workplace
Melissa Wagner: Woman in Support Services
Suzanne Lehr: Woman in Volunteerism
Melissa Lawyer: Emerging Leader
Dayle Dickens: Future Leader
Benders Home Care: Employer of Excellence
