Balanced Scoring Leads Northwest in Home Opener

Five Bearcats finished the game in double figures.
(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Northwest Missouri State (3-2) opened its home slate Wednesday night with a 96-50 win over Baker University.

Five different Bearcats scored in double figures led by freshman Jordan Ashton's career-high 16 points off the bench. Senior Bryston Williams was 5-10 from the field with 14 points and four steals, and DeShaun Cooper had 10 points and six assists.

Northwest came out of the gate fast grabbing a 26-9 lead just over ten minutes into the game. The Bearcats slowed the Wildcats limiting Baker to just 22 first half points, and forcing a season-high 24 turnovers.

All 12 players that got into the game for Northwest also got on to the scoreboard. Dillon Starzl was 4-4 from the field and 3-3 from the free throw line for 11 points. Grant Cozad added 12.

As a team, the Bearcats improved on their league-leading free throw percentage hitting 21 of 23 shots from the charity stripe.

Northwest is off until November 26th when they host Peru State.
