Creason Surprises Girlfriend with Proposal at Bearcat Stadium

Northwest running back Billy Creason had a special question for his longtime girlfriend after Saturday's win over Washburn.
(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Senior day is a special occasion for a student-athlete. For an athlete to continue a perfect season on senior day? That's even more special.

But one such senior stole the show on Saturday at Northwest with one of the most special moments of his life.

"I was really nervous for Billy," head coach Adam Dorrel said. "He told me he was going to do it yesterday. I just looked at him and said: 'What if she says no?' That kind of got him a little bit nervous too."

Billy Creason, the second-ranked Bearcats' backfield leader in touchdowns, had just helped Northwest knock off No. 8 Washburn to improve to 9-0. After scoring the day's final touchdown, he was ready for something much more nerve-racking than facing a top ten opponent.

Creason proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Sydney Borowski, in front of family, friends, and teammates in the postgame huddle at the center of Mel Tjeerdsma field at Bearcat Stadium.

"I think from Billy's standpoint, he's a senior, he wanted to play well, and he didn't want to propose to his girlfriend after a loss. It turned out to be a great day. Everything worked out great for the Bearcats."

He may not have led his team in rushing, but he can lay claim to the biggest victory of the day.
