Dave was born June 12, 1935 in Amazonia, MO to Charles and Sylvia Elliott.

He attended Savannah High School and started working construction at 16 to support the family after his father died. He joined the Army in 1958, serving at Minuteman Missile Base in Bangor, WA until 1961. There he met the love of his life, Darlene Bertina Hanson, and wed October 25, 1959. They moved back to the Midwest and raised four sons. Dave worked in sales and construction in Kansas City, St. Louis, and St. Joseph, settling in Savannah where he owned and operated Northwest Missouri Insulation, Roofing and Siding with Darlene. He later built custom homes in the area and during retirement was a beloved school bus driver.

Dave’s life was marked by faith in Jesus and love for family and friends. He pastored many churches and loved singing hymns praising the Lord with his beautiful Irish tenor voice. He took great joy in his grandchildren and even performed some of their marriage ceremonies.

Predeceased by his parents, brothers Clarence, Leonard and John Paul; sister Arda Eberhart; grandson Jeremy Elliott and granddaughter Sunshine Elliott.

Survived by his wife Darlene; brother Harold (Rita), Lansing, IL; sisters Helen McCush Frock (Harry) Savannah; Lila Harvey, St. Joseph, and Jenny Hinkle, Fortescue, MO; four sons: Brad (Jan), Bend, OR; Steve (Beth), Amazonia; Randy (Julie), Savannah; Dan (Robin), Overland Park, KS; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial celebration of Dave’s life is 2:00 PM, Monday, December 16, Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, MO with military honors following.

Visitation is 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The America Cancer Society.
