Curtis Eugene Wandfluh, 82, Savannah Missouri, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 8, 2014.

Curtis Eugene Wandfluh, 82, Savannah Missouri, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 8, 2014.

Curtis was born December 1, 1931 in Andrew County, Missouri to Thomas J. and Pearl (Millholen) Wandfluh. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1951. Curtis obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.

In October, 1952, Curtis was accepted into the Armed Forces. He was trained in aviation electronics at the naval base in Norman, Oklahoma. Curtis served in the Navy, during the Korean War, aboard the USS Kearsarge CVA-33 Air Group Eleven, where he was a navigator and flew in a AD-5N Skyraider.

Curtis married Phyllis Jane Gibson March 22, 1957 in Smithville, Missouri, she survives of the home.

After returning from the Navy, he worked for Light and Power as district manager for six years. He then started P & W electric where he worked for three years. Curtis joined I.B.E.W. Local 545, where he worked as an electrician for the next 30 years, retiring in 1994.

Curtis was a lifetime member of the American Legion Dick Munkres Post #287 and belonged to the Masonic Lodge. He was a city council member.
Curtis was a talented craftsman, who built his own home. He also enjoyed car racing and built his own stock and sprint cars.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Curtis Eugene Wandfluh, Jr.

Additional survivors include children, Patricia (P.J.) Phelps, Kansas City, Missouri, Catina (Matt) Dudley, Saint Joseph, Missouri, Terri Edwards, Blue Springs, Missouri, Cindy (Todd) Benson, Savannah; grandchildren, Erien (Kerri) Knechtenhofer, Heather (Michael) Mathews, , Ethan Edwards, Brice Benson and (Katie Sybert), Corrin Wright, Brooke (Shane) Deering, Curtis Ryan Wandfluh and Kibby Benson; and eight great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life 11:30 am, Saturday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:30 am, at our Chapel. Mr. Wandfluh has been cremated.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Andrew County Senior Center or a charity of the donor’s choice.
