Arthur R. “Art” Risker, 84, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the Golden Living Center of Smithville, MO, after a long battle with congestive heart disease.
Arthur R. “Art” Risker, 84, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the Golden Living Center of Smithville, MO, after a long battle with congestive heart disease.

Art was born June 18, 1929 in Leavenworth County, KS to Charles Wallace and Clara Belle (Pegley) Risker.

He moved to Tracy, MO in April of 1948, where he lived for the majority of his life.

Art married Marian Frances Trumble on July 21, 1950 in Weston, MO.

He was a member of the Tracy Baptist Church, and in early years, worked as a groomsman for the Leavel Show Horse Company, preparing show horses for the county fair, and other events. Art later was employed as a foreman of the freezing department for the Country Club Dairy in Kansas City, MO. He then attended Molar Barber College in Kansas City, beginning his long standing career as a barber. Art opened his first business, “Art’s Barber Shop” in Weston in the early ‘60s, and continued until 1972, when he moved his shop to Tracy, where he continued his barbering business for the remainder of his working life. Art had numerous talents throughout his lifetime, including as a professional guitarist and mandolinist with his band Blue Denim. He also enjoyed carpentry in his spare time, and built numerous dog houses from salvaged lumber.

Art was preceded in death by: his parents; his brothers Leonard F., and Walter C. Risker; and his sisters Mary Conner, and Julia “Marge” Fuentes.

He is survived by: his wife Marian; his sons Loren Ray (Sally) Risker of Chicago, IL, and Stephen Arthur (Jane) Risker of Archie, MO; his daughter M. Gayle (Larry) Hayes of Ione, CA; his sister Leona Moorman of Gladstone, MO; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the Tracy Baptist Church, at a later date.
