Carl G. Nurski, 93, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Missouri.
Carl was born on December 6, 1920 in St. Joseph, Missouri to George and Mary (Proc) Nurski.
Carl graduated from Benton High School and Northwest Missouri State University receiving his Masters from the University of Missouri Columbia. He served in the United State Army during World War II. He was an educator working at Myrtle Miller, Pershing and Central High School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a trumpet player during his youth playing in big bands, a member of Cathedral of St. Joseph, he volunteered at the Open Door Food Kitchen, Cathedral Food Pantry, Hands of Hope Hospice and enjoyed visiting nursing home residents.
He married Mary Tucker, She preceded him in death on July 12, 1993. He was also preceded by his parents, two brothers, Louis and Andy Nurski and two sisters, Margaret Zbierski and Valeria Schuele and his dear friend Mary Murawski.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including his special friends Kenny and Sheila Wilkinson.
Mass of Christian Burial 10am Monday at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 2pm Sunday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Sunday. Rosary 6:30pm Sunday at our chapel.
