Doris Jeanne Brasington Wallace, age 109, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Living Community of St. Joseph.

Doris Jeanne Brasington Wallace, age 109, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Living Community of St. Joseph.

She was born on July 16, 1905 in St. Joseph, Missouri the daughter of William and Cordova (Durham) Brasington.

She graduated from Central High School and Platte Gard’s Business School, both in St. Joseph, Missouri. She began her working career at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Switchboard Operator at age 19 and was a Supervisor in the Commercial Department upon retiring in 1950.

Doris was united in marriage to Woodrow W. Curtis and later divorced. She married Alfred Omdahl of Leona, Kansas. He was killed in a tragic farm accident. She married Ernest Wallace in 1955 for 36 years until his death in 1991.

Up to the age of 105 Doris was able to live alone in her lovely apartment, with the help of her kind friends. She was active in the St. Joseph Garden Club and always enjoyed working on her own flowers. She also loved to play golf at the Moila Country Club. Dancing and singing were her favorite past times.

Mrs. Wallace was a past member of Wyatt Park Christian Church, St. Joseph Garden Club and American Legion Post #11 Auxiliary.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Alfred Omdahl and Ernie Wallace; brother, Rolla Brasington; sister, Alice Brasington Oliver; and niece, Nona Bell Brasington Adams.

Doris is survived by nephew, R.E. “Buck” Brasington, Pasadena, California; niece, Helen Brasington Hill, Bakersfield, California; and Virginia Harper Chandler, cousin and care giver.

We are all so thankful Doris’ passing was peaceful and without pain or suffering. Please remember her in your thoughts and prayers.

Memorial Services:  1:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
