Edward “Ed” Hoyt, born March 21, 1934, went home to his eternal resting place with the Lord, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 after a brief illness.

Edward “Ed” Hoyt, born March 21, 1934, went home to his eternal resting place with the Lord, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 after a brief illness.

Ed was an over the road truck driver for Crouch Brothers and Carnation Company.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air National Guard after service in Desert Storm in 1991.

Ed liked to camp and fish.  He enjoyed wood working and restoring antique John Deere tractors.  He was a model airplane enthusiast.

Ed is survived by wife, Phyllis, of the home; daughters, Kim Beckett, Cheryl (Jim) Straight, and Kelli (Bill) Cobb; grandchildren, Bethany Beckett, Caitlin and Cale Straight, Joe, Jake, and Joshua Cobb, all of St. Joseph, Missouri, Aaron (Lindsey) Williams; two great-grandchildren, Talon and Tenley Williams, of Savannah, Missouri; brothers, Kenton Hoyt of Plymouth, Illinois and Duane Hoyt of Carthage, Illinois; half-brother, Steve Hoyt; and half-sister, Sharon Winget, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Ed requested no visitation.

Graveside Services and Inurnment:  10:00 A.M. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Green Valley Baptist Church, St. Joseph, Missouri.   Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
