Jack Edward Teegarden, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Living Community of St. Joseph.

He was born March 29, 1928 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Samuel and Josephine (Butcher) Teegarden.

He married Bette Nass in 1949.

Jack retired from the US Army as a Chief Warrant Officer III after 23 years of military service.  He taught Gerontology at Highland Community College; was a planner and trainer for emergency preparedness and hazardous materials for the State of Kansas and he deactivated the Last Horse Troop #7766 U.S. Constabulary in 1949.

Jack attended Christian Brothers High School, St. Benedict’s College, and was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church, K of C #571, the Marine Corps League, Southside Progressive Association, and was an active volunteer in the community.

He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Jack E. Teegarden, Jr.; parents; and brother, Clark Gore.

Survivors: son, Michael Teegarden, Cameron, Missouri; daughters, Mary Ann Didde (Dan)St. Joseph, Missouri, Joan Metzger (Tom) Parkville, Missouri, and Beth Cobb (Rick), St. Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren, Jen Fagan, Elizabeth Winkelbauer, Sarah Lesinski, Christopher and Daniel Cobb; and great-grandchildren, Grace, Caroline, Jane Fagan, Jacob and Katelyn Winkelbauer, and Claire, Rose, and Mary Lesinski.

Mass of Christian Burial:  10:00 A.M. Monday, St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church. Interment Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery at 2:30 P.M..  Parish Rosary 6:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.  The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Sunday.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the  Teegarden Family Scholarship at Bishop LeBlond High School, Benedictine College, Living Community of St. Joseph, or Cathedral School.
