Jenifer Louise (Elo) Hindery went to everlasting peace, after a nearly six year battle with breast cancer, on Friday, March 21, 2014. She was born in St. Joseph on August 16, 1961 and was the oldest daughter of the late Mr. Pete Elo, Sr. and Mrs. Janet Louise Elo, and was, predeceased by sister, Katrina Elo.
Jenifer was an accomplished cook, a superb softball pitcher in her younger days, an accomplished pianist, organist and vocalist. Jenifer graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School in 1979. She attended MWSC. Her employment included Sherwood Medical, Ross-Frasier Hardware, Bliss-Mize Hardware, with her last full time employment, Trexcon Inc. After her onset of cancer she worked part time at First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church.
Jenifer enjoyed watching her three children grow up, Tylor Hindery of Springfield, Missouri, Jelena Louise Hindery and her son, Quintin Louis, and Austin Peter Hindery, of the home. They will miss her for her ability to amazingly maintain grace, dignity and strength found through her devotional trust in God, not only during her battle with cancer, but in LIFE. As Elvis Presley once said in song, “There’s another meeting place somewhere in Heaven, by the side of the river of life”.
Jenifer and her beloved and caring husband William Patrick (Pat) Hindery were married on July 5, 1997 he, also, survives of the home. Additional survivors are Pete Elo (Miachelle) Lawrenceville, Georgia, Ted Elo St. Joseph, Gerald ”Butch” Elo (Carmen) and Richard Elo (Amy) Orlando, Florida, and Glorianna Black (Allan) Indiantown, Florida.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Richard Rocha at St. Joseph Cathedral 11:00 AM Monday, March 24, 2014. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday evening at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, with a parish prayer service held at 6:00 PM Sunday. There will be a private family inurnment at a later date. Jenifer requests in lieu of flowers donations to Hands of Hope Hospice or KU Endowment for Breast Cancer Research.
