Joedd Biggs, 84, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at his home in Platte City, MO.
Joedd Biggs, 84, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at his home in Platte City, MO. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 29, at the United Methodist Church of Platte City.

Inurnment of the cremains will take place in the Platte City Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests contributions be given to: The United Methodist Church of Platte City, or the Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorder Center—Univ. of Kansas Medical Center—3599 Rainbow Blvd.—K.C., KS 66160.

Joedd was born July 11, 1929 in Scotland County, MO to Robert Eugene and Martha Amelia (Russell) Biggs.

He was a 1947 graduate of the Granger High School, in Granger, MO. Joedd married Shirlie Maxine Walker on July 14, 1950 in Memphis, MO. He lived in various areas of Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois, before moving to Platte City in 1969. Joedd worked as a brush clearing foreman for Platte/Clay Electric. He also enjoyed raising cattle and farming. Joedd was a member of the United Methodist Church of Platte City, and enjoyed numerous activities, which included: square dancing, country music, Polka music, small engine repair, farm toy collecting, and hunting. He remained active in these and other activities until he sustained injuries from a car accident, in 2001.

Joedd was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother Ben Biggs; a sister Marilyn Dowd; and a grandson Thomas Brooks.

He is survived by: his wife Shirlie, of the home; his son Stanley (Carmen) Biggs of Gladstone, MO; 4 daughters Judy (Steve) Crull of Belton, MO, Beverly Pierce of Platte City, Nancy (Jeff) Moore of Shawnee, KS, and Rita (Mark) Mock of Platte City, MO; brother Tipton (Maureen) Biggs of Omaha, NE; sister Pat Shelly of Memphis, MO; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
