John William Stilgenbauer, Sr., 83, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, February 17, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 9, 1931 to John and Grace (Highsmith) Stilgenbauer in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He married Jean Dale Stropes on August 2, 1955. They were married 59 years. She survives of the home.
John graduated from Benton High School in 1948 and attended University of Missouri. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He co-owned Colt Wall and Bethel Livestock Commission Firm and retired after forty-years in 1994.
Mr. Stilgenbauer was a member of King Hill Lodge #376, A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree, K.C.C.H. Scottish Rite Mason; 50 year member of the Moila Shrine.
John enjoyed traveling and gardening. He was also an avid fisherman and a bird hunter in his younger days. Most of all he loved his family and they loved him. His loving ways and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Additional Survivors: children, John Stilgenbauer, Jr., Jeff Stilgenbauer (Jennifer) and Jackie Stilgenbauer (Sandy); two grandchildren, Evan and Emma; brother, Marvin Ralph Stilgenbauer (Nancy); and three nieces, several great nieces and nephews.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
