Laura Lea (Singer) Bonham, 68, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away unexpectedly after a short bout with cancer, Monday, July 28, 2014 at a local healthcare facility.

Laura Lea (Singer) Bonham, 68, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away unexpectedly after a short bout with cancer, Monday, July 28, 2014 at a local healthcare facility.

She was born August 24, 1945 to Jack and Leota (Smith) Singer in Santa Ana, California residing in St. Joseph most of her life. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School, graduated from Beauty School, and attended Missouri Western State University.

Laura married John Clinton Bonham on October 1, 1965 who survives of the home. She is survived by daughter, Teresa Ann (Bonham) Johnson; brother, Larry Lee Singer; aunt, Juanita Margaruite (Smith) (Salter) Nienas; two grandsons, Austin Lee Johnson and Miles Spencer Johnson;  son-in-law, Jason Eugene Johnson; cousin, Orlis Owen Smith, brother-in-law, Melvin Bonham; sister-in-law, Shirley (Bonham) Schott; nieces, Kimberly Schott and Kelly Schott; and nephews, Scott Bonham and Shawn Bonham.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents Jack Spencer Singer and Leota (Smith) Singer; maternal grandparents, Ida Victoria (Caudell) Smith, William Ottis Smith, and paternal grandparents, Lucille (Morgan) Singer and King David Singer.

Mrs. Bonham encouraged and nourished the lives of friends and family. She loved organizing and participating in gatherings at her home and at church during holidays and throughout the year. Her home was open to anyone. No one was a stranger to her. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Laura was a member of Grace Baptist Church in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Services:  3:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home. Internment Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home, where friends may call after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.
