Lawrence McAfee, 86 of Amazonia, Missouri died Saturday August 16, 2014 at a local hospital.
He was born January 16, 1928 to John and Sophia McAfee in Forbes, Missouri.
Lawrence attended Savannah High School, entered the U.S. Navy in 1945 serving 2 years. He spent his career at Swift and Company, McCarty Motors, He later worked part time at Bill’s Camper Sales.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 287. Charter member of the Lion’s Club in Amazonia, served on the Amazonia City Council and the Savannah Rural Fire Protection District.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He married Bernardine Greub on June 26, 1948 in St. Joseph, Missouri she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include two sons; Ronald (Diana), and Kenneth (Marsha); three grandsons; John (Jenny), Nathan (Lauren), Nick (Sadara); five great-grandchildren; brother Leonard “Gene” McAfee and nieces and nephews.
Prayer Service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery Visitation will begin after 12 noon Monday, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Amazonia Lions Club or Andrew County Food Pantry.
