Layne Gale Barnett 57, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, formerly of St. Joseph, MO made his final duck call as he made his triumphant journey into Life Eternal Sunday, January 26th at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital with his loving family at his side.
Layne Gale Barnett 57, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, formerly of St. Joseph, MO made his final duck call as he made his triumphant journey into Life Eternal Sunday, January 26th at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Layne Gale was born April 23, 1956, graduated Mid-Buchanan High School in 1974 and lived in the St. Joseph area until moving to Texas where he entered into the Custom Lubrications business as a salesman. In 1996 he moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma where he and a business partner Vernon Rose opened Performance Lubrications and Chemicals, Co. Inc. where he was currently owner and salesman until his death.Layne Gale was an avid duck hunter and enjoyed fishing, Corvettes, his 1963 Chevrolet 4x4 pickup, raising cattle, working on he and Shelly’s small ranch, spending time with his three daughters, two grandsons, family members and extended family. He served in the United States Air Force and attended the Sparta United Methodist Church in his younger years. Layne Gale truly lived life to the fullest.

Layne Gale married Shelly Bunkowski on May 4, 1990.

She and his youngest daughter, Kaytlyn survive him of the home in Guthrie as well as two adult daughters; Jessica Barker of Agency, MO, and Melissa McMain and her husband, Mark of Platte City, MO; two grandsons, Alex Barker, and Phin McMain of Platte City; his mother, Donna Barnett; three brothers, David (Sharon), Jim and his wife Julie, Wayne Dale and his wife Carol; two sisters, Ladonna Fergison and her husband Dean, Linda Bywaters and her husband Bill all of St. Joseph; several nieces and nephews; Jessica and Melissa’s mother, Susanne Pollard; and many friends and business associates.

The family will recieve friends from 10-11 AM Saturday February 1st, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Ajax and Pear Streets St. Joseph, MO, and the memorial service to celebrate Layne Gale's will follow at 11:00am. A fellowship time will be held immediately following the service in the Wesley Fellowship Hall.

Oklahoma services will be held on Wednesday, February 5th at the Hahn-Cook Funeral Home at 1:00 pm in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

For those choosing to remember Layne Gale with a memorial contribution the family suggests the American Heart Association, Ducks Unlimited, The Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City or a charity of the donors choice.
