Leonard Billy Schubert, Jr., 84, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
Leonard was born September 3, 1929 to Leonard Herman and Billie Juanita (Porter) Schubert in Leavenworth, Kansas.
He worked at Seitz Packing Company before joining the United States Navy, which he served in the Korean War. When he returned from the Navy he went to work at Dugdales Packing Company.
He was a St. Joseph Firefighter and drove Engine Number 10 before returning to Dugdales until it closed down. Later he worked as the meat cutter for Western Sizzlin.
He enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, playing cards, softball, camping and fishing, but most of all he liked family dinners.
He married Charlotte (Keling) on August 6, 1954. She survives of the home.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stevie and a daughter, Cherrie.
Additional Survivors: two daughters, Jackie Hendrix (Mike) and Melody Gordon (Jerry); sister, Gloria Walker; six grandchildren, Bill Hendrix (Jamie), Charity Kovac (Matt), David Cook Jr. (Misty), Hope Turner (Emil), Luke Sill(Halley) and Levi Sill (Jessica); fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 3:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
