Margaret Ruth Fox, 77, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her home surrounded by her husband and five children.
Margaret was born on February 8, 1937 in Black Wolf, Kansas to Thomas F. and Barbara D. (Janousek) Foote. She was a pre-school teacher and Director of the Early Childhood Education Center at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in St. Joseph, Missouri for 23 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Francis Xavier Adult Choir, the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocesan Choir, St. Anne’s Altar Society, Catholic Committee on Scouting, National Catholic Educational Association and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Marymount College in Salina, Kansas, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sr. Marilyn Foote, CSJ.
Margaret married Keith A. Fox on August 12, 1959 in Ellsworth, Kansas. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include one daughter, Marilyn (Dennis) Hector; four sons, Tim (Ellen Reed-Fox), Paul (Kelly), David (Lisa) and Chris (Tammy) Fox; one brother, Thomas (Sharon) Foote; two sisters, Barbara Jean Steiner and Kathy (John) Triplett; grandchildren, Brian (Leslie), Adam and Erin Hector, Maggie, Kate, Matt, Josie, Emma, Luke, Mason, Cole and Tori Fox, and Charles Bollmeyer; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Bennett Hector. She was a loving and adoring mother and grandmother.
She will be missed by scores of friends and students.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am Saturday, August 16, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and interment Mount Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri. Visitation will begin after 9:00 am Friday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Rosary 6:00 pm Friday. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:30 pm.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Francis Xavier School Endowment Fund or the St. Francis Xavier House of Bread.
