Curt was born 20 August 1950 in Maryville, Missouri the son of the late Marvin Clair and Annie Lauretta (McDowell) Ringgold.

Curt attended Lafayette High School.

January 23, 1971 Marvin was united in marriage to Rebecca Lynn Dean at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Joseph.  To this union two children were born, Elizabeth “Beth” Marie Ringgold of Kansas City, Missouri and Marvin Curtis “Curt” Ringgold II, of Springfield, Missouri and his wife, Suzie Ringgold.

Marvin served 20 years in the US Army.  He served as a combat medic in Viet Nam where he was awarded numerous awards, he was most proud of his 2 Bronze Stars with a V device for Valor.  He was also awarded the Purple Heart while in Viet Nam.

He served 5 years in Germany as well as various other stateside duties.  One of Marvin’s soldiers sent us this message, “It Is With A Heavy Heart That I Say On Behalf Of Bravo Co. 3rd Med. That “SFC Ringgold” Will Never Be Forgotten By Us. We Are Grateful To Have Known Him. For Those Of Us In Clearing Platoon That Had The Honor To Have Served Under His Leadership. He Was The Soldier’s Sergeant. Again, It Was An Honor To Have Known Him In This Life.”

He devoted a great deal of time to his children and community.  He coached baseball and football in various military communities.

After retirement from the Army, Marvin worked 25 year at Munson Army Hospital and Clinic.  He was proud of our flag and country.  As a friend said.” He was a good man who loved his country and the staff at Munson. He retired in August, 2013.

He loved photography, traveling and most importantly his grandchildren.  Hannah Rae Moore, Kenna Marie Moore, Tanner James Durham, Trey Curtis Ringgold and Lexi Shae Ringgold.

Preceding him in death were his parents Marvin and Annie (McDowell) Ringgold.

Services 10am Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment 1:30pm Wednesday at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Friends may call after 2pm Tuesday, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Tuesday evening.

The family suggests memorials to the American Red Cross.
