Thomas was born on February 13, 1922 in Denton, Kansas to George A. & Ethel M. (Wrighton) Roberts. He was a lifelong resident of Denton.  Thomas attended the Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri  1941-1942.  Thomas began as a cashier at the Bank of Denton in 1946 and retired from the Bank as CEO March of 2013 after 67 years. He served October 3, 1942 - January 12, 1946 in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in the 13th Marines 5th Marine Division and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima. 

Thomas was a member of the Denton United Methodist Church, 50 year Club of the Kansas Bankers Association, Lifetime member of the American Legion Post #16 of Atchison, Kansas, Lifetime member of the V.F.W. Denton Masonic Lodge #449, Moila Shrine in St. Joseph, Missouri and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He married Lorene E. Albers on March 6, 1944 in Atchison, Kansas.  She preceded him in death on November 12, 2002.  Thomas was also preceded by his parents, granddaughter, Teresa Roberts, 2 brothers, David George Roberts & John Warren Roberts.

Survivors include his children; James (Sandi) Roberts of Lawrence, Kansas
                                        Paul (June) Roberts of Denton, Kansas;
                                        Kathy Batenic (Mark) of Southern Shores, N.C.;
                                        Beverly Nelson (Chuck) of Peachtree City, Georgia;
                                        12 grandchildren     20 great-grandchildren

FUNERAL: Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - 10:30 A.M.
at:  Denton United Methodist Church - Denton, Kansas
burial:  Denton Cemetery - Denton, Kansas where there will be military honors.

Visitation;  family will receive friends Monday evening 6-8 at the Harman Rohde Funeral Home in Troy where friends may call after 9 A.M. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either the Denton United Methodist Church or Grace Hospice.
