William Lloyd Davis, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

William Lloyd Davis, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 27, 1924 to Vernon and Lenora (Engeman) Davis in Wathena, Kansas.

He was a 1942 graduate of Benton High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri. He was employed as the manager of Beneficial Finance.

Lloyd proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii during World War II. He was a member of Moila Shrine and King Hill Baptist Church.

He was an avid golfer and gardener, loved sports and held a track record at Benton High School from 1942 until recently.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Virgil Odell Davis; sister-in-law, Kathryn Davis; and brother-in-law, Paul A. Newton.

Survivors: sister, Gladys Newton, St. Joseph, Missouri; two nieces, Becky Pressly (Paul), Olathe, Kansas and Jennifer Newton, St. Joseph, Missouri; and two nephews, Scott Davis (Karen), Jackson, Mississippi and Jeffrey Newton (Lucy), Carmel, Indiana.

Graveside Services and Interment:  11:00 A.M. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 12:00 Noon Saturday. Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice
