Gary L. Blair, 72, St. Joseph, MO, passed away at his home Monday, October 7, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Gary was born on April 2, 1941, in Pattonsburg, MO, to Roy and Verna (Lawless) Blair.
He loved bowling, fishing, hunting and working on his old cars. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the American Bowling Association. He loved all his grandkids, even the ones not related that called him Papa.
Gary worked for Heitman Mattress, owned Brage Upholstery, retired from Golden Touch Upholstery in Overland Park, KS in 2000.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Blair; sisters, Carolyn Mallott, Janice Tudor, Sharon Blair and great-grandson, Tucker Conard.
Gary married Kay Wilkinson on February 8, 1959. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his daughter, Billie Kay (Sonnie) Suman of Wathena, KS; son, Ed (Janice) Blair, St. Joseph, MO; seven grandchildren, Joe Fulton (Ashley Selecman), Jennifer Uredi (James Thomason); Becky (Shawn) Pettegrew, Santina (Josh) Sutton, Holly (Chris) Conard, Richard Fulton (Ashley Sawyer) and Brooke (Derek) Smiley; four step-grandchildren, Stephen, Jeromy (Meghan), Taylor (Rachel) Suman and Joe (Erika) Kleine; fifteen great-grandchildren, Bryson, Hailie, Denise, Ashlyn, Joshalin, Caleb, Joshua, Tamara, Lainie, Madelyn, Kimber, Sully, Raelyn, Kinley and Kallie; eight step-great-grandchildren, Will, Jalynn, Kiley, Sydney, Josie, Layna, Lily and Lucy.
Services 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon Thursday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
The family suggests memorial contributions to American Heart Association or to Three Rivers Hospice.
