George Donald Clark, 89, Bendena, Kansas died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Atchison Hospital.

George Donald Clark, 89, Bendena, Kansas died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Atchison Hospital.  He was born July 17, 1924 to Albert and Mathilda (Christensen) Clark near Troy, Kansas.  He married Audrey Jean Smith on January 25, 1946. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2003.

Don was a 1941 graduate of Bendena High School and attended Purdue University for Naval Training. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. Don served on the U.S.S. Hamill, where he attained the rank of First Class Electricians Mate.
He served as a Rural Mail Carrier, where he served as State Secretary/Treasurer. He retired as a banker, serving with Bendena State Bank, Farmer’s Bank of Leona, Citizens State Bank, Hiawatha, and the Bank of Robinson.

Don was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bendena, Kansas, Treasurer of Moray Cemetery Association for many years, Smithton Lodge #1, A.F. & A.M., the Troy Post #5, American Legion.  He enjoyed woodworking, visits from family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his talking books.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norris Clark; two sisters, Opal Graham and Ruby Dickson; son-in-law, Floyd Myers; and granddaughter, Michelle Myers.  Survivors: five children, Gail Myers, St. Joseph, Missouri, Jim Clark and his wife Kathy, Bendena, Kansas, Roger Clark and his wife Connie, Wathena, Kansas, Jeannie Marteney and her husband Ron, Emporia, Kansas, and Paul Clark and his wife Cathy, Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Alice Mix, Spokane, Washington, and Pearl Lewis, Troy, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Services: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Moray Cemetery, Bendena, Kansas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family requests memorial gifts to the Moray Cemetery Association.
