James Howard Triplet, Sr., 90, St. Joseph, Missouri passed from this life Friday, January 3, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 24, 1923 to James Oliver and Gladys (Ghan) Triplet in St. Joseph, Missouri.
On February 21, 1947, James married his life-long friend, Lurena Walker. During their 66 years of marriage, they traveled extensively and enjoyed their family of two daughters, Nancy L. Wyble (Harold) and Susan K. Cobb (Brian), and one son, James H. Triplet, Jr. (Margaret).
Mr. Triplet was an Army Veteran who served with the 8th Air Force as a Flight Engineer, B24, stationed in Old Buckingham England until October 1945. Upon his return to the United States he became an employee of South Western Bell where he worked for over 38 years.
James belonged to the Francis Street First United Methodist Church, where he was a longtime active member, involved in various committees, and was an usher for many years. He also helped organize the ADE Sunday School class of which he was a member for 66 years. He was also a 32nd Degree mason and a 50 year member of Brotherhood Lodge No. 269.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Smith, and infant daughter, Rena Triplet.
Survivors: wife, Lurena; son, James Howard Triplet, Jr. (Margaret); daughters, Nancy Wyble (Harold) and Susan Cobb (Brian); grandchildren, Kristen, Kevin (Lindsey), and Kelly Wyble, Ashley and Megan Cobb, Ruth Langworthy (Lucas), and Meredith Triplet; brother-in-law, Clarence Walker (Shirley); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 3:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
