James Owen Blizzard, 68, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

James Owen Blizzard, 68, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away peacefully Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 23, 1945 to Rolla and Frieda (Spencer) Blizzard in Southgate, California.

He married Nita Clinton on July 30, 1977 in San Diego, California. She survives of the home.

Jim began his 46 year career in Real Estate and Mortgage Banking in 1967 and continued when he moved to St. Joseph, Missouri in 1989. He worked for Coldwell Banker and also in mortgage banking locally. His training and experience made him a valuable contributor and he was well respected by all that knew him.

He was a devoted Christian and enjoyed camping and fishing.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmy Blizzard; a brother; and three sisters.

Additional Survivors: son, Jeffrey Blizzard (Kim); granddaughter, Kylie Blizzard; sister, Yvonne Sherman (Danny); nieces, Sheri Gardner, and Cheryl Schultz; nephews, Donald Potter (Pandora), Scott Young (Pat), Bob Young, and Danny Sherman; twelve grand nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nephews.

Care provided by Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at their home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society or Hands of Hope Hospice.
