Kenneth Marion Privett of Mound City, Missouri died Thursday, October, 31, 2013 at a Mound City healthcare facility.
He was born February 27, 1927 in Cass County, Nebraska to George Marion and Martha Ann (McCrary) Privett.
He and his family moved to a farm near Big Lake, Missouri when he was seven years old. He graduated from Fortescue High School in 1944.
Mr. Privett served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II and was discharged with the rank of sergeant.
On January 15, 1956 he was united in marriage to Nora June Moore. She preceded him in death September 30, 1956. On September 14th, 1958 he married Mary Lee McKinstry in St. Joseph, Missouri.
After being discharged he returned to the family farm and became an insurance agent with Shelter Insurance, formerly MFA Insurance, from 1953 to retirement in 1989.
Kenneth was a member of the original Mound City Swimming Pool Board, serving as treasurer for many years, chairman of the Holt County American Red Cross, member of the Chamber of Commerce and a member of VFW Posts #8406 and #442.
He was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church, serving as Chairman of the Board, Treasurer and also recorded the services and took recordings to shut-ins. He helped many people in the community from driving the handicapped to church to delivering meals to the elderly. He will be remembered as a quiet man and an honest businessman. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking and traveling to see his grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; and granddaughter, Emily Grace Richards.
Survivors: his wife, Mary Lee; daughters, Susan Leafty and her husband Dale, Falls City, Nebraska and Janet Richards and her husband Henry, Orlando, Florida; and five grandchildren, Patrick Leafty, Justin, Tyler, Megan and Jack Richards.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 4, Mound City United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jeremy Blevins officiating. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, Missouri.
