Laura Mae Carver-Cox, 84, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Laura Mae Carver-Cox, 84, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Laura was born on November 2, 1928 in St. Joseph to Leonard C. and Mary A. (Webster) Raines. She was a graduate of Benton High School.

Laura had worked at Swift Co. and had later worked as a butcher for Armour and Company.

She married Robert L. Carver on July 27, 1945 in Kansas; he preceded her in death in 1977. She then married Everett Cox and he preceded her in death in 1996.

Laura was a lifetime member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of VFW. She was an avid Chiefs Fan, loved watching TV Land and playing Solitary.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Brenda Fanscher and brother, Clarence Raines.

Surviving family includes two sons, Robert G. Carver and Steven H. (Cindy) Carver, sister, Linda K. Piercy, all of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Brian, Shawn, Michelle, Stephenie, and Scott; 13 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Services 1:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2013 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 9:00 AM Thursday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday Evening.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
