Norman Forest Guyer, Sr., 81, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 11, 1932 to Virgil and Elsie (Spencer) Guyer Sr.
He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Norman worked at Swift and Company for 18 years until they closed and later as a letter carrier for 24 years for the U.S. Postal Service. He belonged to Fraternal Order of the Eagles from 1983 to 2011 and also The National Association of Letter Carriers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Pearl Moore, Beaulah Spry, Willard Guyer, Thelma Ragland, Virgil Guyer, Jr., Clifford Guyer, Lucille Cox, Mickey Gann, Jessie Guyer, Russell Guyer, and Paul Guyer.
Survivors: children, Norman “Frosty” Guyer, Chris Guyer, and Erik Guyer; grandchildren, Jennifer Guyer, Ashley Lea, Alicia Guyer, and Jacob Guyer; great-grandchildren, Aubree Phillips, Maddox Lea, and Scarlette Lea; and sister, Vesta Barmann.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Entombment Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 5:00 P.M. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Disabled American Veterans.
