Orville L. Hein, 88, passed away surrounded by his family, Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at his home in Platte City, MO.

A visitation will be held 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 11, at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in the Platte City Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be given to: Honor Flight-TLC Network—3469 Winchester Bend Dr.—Columbus, OH 43232.

Orville was born April 13, 1925 in Hamburg, Iowa to George and Helen Marie (King) Hein.

He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air corps, earning 4 bronze stars and a Purple Heart medal.

Orville married Rachel Hope (Clarke) Hein on October 24, 1975 in Platte City.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Platte City. Orville worked as a mechanic for TWA, and was a member of the machinist’s union in Kansas City, MO. He was also a past member of the local Eagle’s Lodge, and V.F.W. Post #4055 of Platte City.

Orville was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and an infant twin brother.

He is survived by: 2 daughters Barbara Hein Duke, and husband James of Portsmouth, VA, and Rebecca Hein Peek, and husband Steven of K.C., MO; 4 grandchildren Nicholas and Haleigh Peek, and Jimmy and Hillary Duke; and several half brothers and sisters.
