Don was born on October 16, 1935 in Gallatin, Missouri to S. R. “Vess” and Orpha (Johnson) Cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers-in-law, Gene Baldwin and Norman Price.

Don was a 1953 graduate of Winston High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Grand River Muzzle Loaders.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors: Wife, Loura (Savage) Cook, of the home; 3 daughters, Karen (Shane) Beckwith, St. Joseph, MO, Kathi (Bill) Crawford, Crocker, MO and Lisa (Richard) Slates, Cameron; 2 sisters, Joyce Baldwin and twin, Yvonne Price, Cameron; 7 grandchildren, Bryan (Eden) Crawford, Matt (Theresa) Crawford, Hannah Beckwith, Jason (Leigh) Smith, Joshua Smith, Griffin Slates and Tyler Slates ; 4 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Caden, Chloee and Gunner; niece, Carol (Willie) Houston, Blue Springs, MO.

Services: 11:00 AM, Friday, December 13, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, 202 E Ford, Cameron, MO. Visitation: 6-8:00 PM, Thursday evening at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.
