Robert D. “Bob” Magoon, 75, Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Bob was born October 15, 1938 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Ben and Lilly Magoon. He attended Edison Elementary, Kemper Military Academy, and graduated from Central High School prior to attending the University of Oklahoma.
Bob maintained lifelong connections with his hometown of St. Joseph and with his friends who still resided there. After college, he moved to Brownsville, Texas where both his children were born.
With humble beginnings, Bob began his business career in the marine and fisheries industry. This started a journey which encompassed world travel. Bob moved to Overland Park, Kansas in 1974 and founded his own seafood company. He remained active in the business until just recently.
Bob embraced his heritage, maintained active involvement in Temple B’nai Sholem, Congregation Ohev Sholom, and was a friend of Torah Learning Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lilly and Ben Magoon; and sister, Joan.
Survivors: his wife and best friend of 30 years, Jill; son, Morris (Jackie), Lee’s Summit, Missouri; daughter, Roxanne Murphy, San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Jason and Eric; several nieces and nephews; and brother, Richard.
