Thelma L. Heard, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
She was born February 19, 1927 in Forbes, Missouri, Holt County.
Thelma was raised in Oregon, Missouri, and then moved to St. Joseph in 1944. She worked at WesTab Printing and Bookbinding for sixteen years. She then went to work at Quaker Oats in 1968 and retired in 1991.
She belonged to the Y Women and was past president, vice president and treasurer of the Quaker ladies social club.
Mrs. Heard was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred C. Heard in 1982; father, John F. Steward in 1953; her mother, Mollie M. Steward Hahn in 1993; brother, Donald E. Steward; and sister, Kathryn S. Brock.
Survivors: son, Thomas Heard (Pat), Boulder City, Nevada; grandsons, Joel Heard (Anita), Blue Springs, Missouri, and Jason Heard, Overland Park, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Taylor, Nick, Kristen, Quinton, and Evan; brother, Galen E. Steward (Beverly), Denver, Colorado; sister, Carolyn A. Parsons, Stanberry, Missouri; and brother-in-law, Marvin Brock, Oregon, Missouri.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Private Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
