William “Billy” D. Humes, 75, of Weston, MO passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Saint Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
William “Billy” D. Humes William D. Humes, 75, of Weston, MO passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Saint Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

A visitation will be held 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 9, 2013 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston MO with Masonic services to follow at 8:00pm. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston.

The family suggests contributions be given to the Wayside Waifs 3901 Martha Truman Road Kansas City, MO 64137.

William was born July 3, 1938 in Leavenworth KS to George Frederick and Hazel Irene (Larison) Humes.

He was a lifelong resident of the Platte County, MO area. He was a 1956 graduate of the West Platte High School.

William married Patty Lou Meyer on December 15, 1956 in Kearney, MO.

He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad until he took the job with the Schlitz Brewing Company as a Brewer for the next 18 years. He then worked as a general contractor. He retired from construction in 2000. William was a member of Laborers Union #264, Weston Lodge #53AF&AM, Weston Star chapter #197. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Weston, He was an avid sports fan and he just loved to watch his grandchildren participate in various sporting events.

William was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife Patty Humes of the home, his two sons; William “Butch” Humes and wife Dee-Dee, and Terry Humes and wife Debbie, two brothers; Kenneth Humes and Roy Humes. His six sisters; Jackie Green, Linda Darby, Robbie Ackley, Vickie Humes, Rhonda McCardie and Martha Rampy. Five grandchildren; Shannon, Mandy, Jessy, Justin, and Ryan Humes, five great granddaughters: Kyleigh, Alexis, Caitlyn, Starlette and Skylee. He is also survived by an extended “Foster-Family” and numerous friends and family that knew and loved Billy for his love for laughter.
