Woodford “Buddy” M. Roberts, 95 passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Carmel Hills Nursing Center in Independence, MO.

A visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Vaughn-Aufranc Funeral Home in Dearborn, MO; followed by a 2:00 p.m., funeral service, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston, MO.

The family suggests contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.

Buddy was born February 23, 1918 in Dearborn, MO to Harry and Madge (Maget) Roberts.

He was a 1935 graduate of the Dearborn High School. Buddy served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. Afterwards, he settled in the Kansas City area, and lived most of his life in the Independence area. Buddy married Joyce Katherine Dunlap on March 7, 1942 in St. Joseph, MO. He was of the Baptist faith, and worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Buddy was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan. He enjoyed woodworking for many years, and after retirement, he was a latch- hook rug maker.

Buddy was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; 2 sisters Darlene Sheaff and Irene Burns; and a great grandson Alec Kent.

He is survived by: 2 sons Ron (Denise) Roberts of Gravois Mills, MO, and Marvin (Linda) Roberts of Independence, MO; 1 sister Ruedene (Chilton) Kyle of Gillette, WY; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great, great, grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
