(NEW YORK) The Kansas City Chiefs used their 23rd pick in the NFL Draft on Auburn defensive end Dee Ford.

The First Team All-SEC performer recorded 29 tackles and 10.5 sacks his senior season for the Tigers. Ford had one sack and three tackles in the SEC Championship game against Missouri, and tallied two sacks in the BCS Championship game against Florida State.

At this year's Senior Bowl, Ford was named MVP and Most Outstanding Defensive Lineman.

"I admire Ford not only as a person, but his ability to rush the passer," Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said. "At the end of the day, we got the guy that we really wanted."

The 6' 2" 252 lb defensive end ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds and put up 29 reps on the bench press at the NFL Combine.

Ford was one of 11 SEC players chosen in the first round Thursday,

The Chiefs next scheduled pick is in the 3rd round on Friday.
